| | | Within a short time the FAM representation successfully strengthened its position on the Chilean market and developed as one of the most essential transfer points of German know-how from Magdeburg. Today FAM América Latina is an important main pillar of the FAM Group.
Numerous projects with reputed customers, among them global corporations like BHP Billiton, Antofagasta Minerals and Anglo American, have been professionally attended around-the-clock for many years already. High-performance port installations, stockyard systems, opencast mining systems and comprehensive integral service of a number of equipment are within the scope of performances of the last 10 years.
| | | | Spence: Extension of Service Contract | | | In 2006 the global corporation BHP Billiton extended the service contract for the Chilean copper mine Minera Spence concluded with FAM América Latina for further three years up to 2012. The scope of services does not only cover the technical service for 21 FAM large-size machines operated continuously since 2006 for stacking and reclaiming of dynamic copper ore stockpiles but even performances for other industrial sectors, such as electrolysis and crushing systems.
| | | The FAM conveying system offers easy maintenance, i.e. the system works with a high rate of component standardization so that the number of spare parts is reduced to minimum. The range includes single components, drive units and even the complete undercarriage. In the framework of the service contract, FAM has been responsible for complete repair scheduling, daily inspections of mechanical and electrical equipment, maintenance, repair and equipment condition monitoring of customer’s complete leach pad system through the on-site support base „FAM Servicio Spence“ for more than three years already.
| | | | Stacker-Reclaimer Ks-S 1825 in the Boxberg Power Station | | | In autumn 2009 FAM Magdeburg received the acceptance certificate for the new stacker-reclaimer with a stacking capacity of 12,000 m³/h and a reclaiming capacity of
7,500 m³/h for the coal stockyard of Boxberg power station.
| | | Vattenfall Europe Mining AG nominated FAM as contractor for project engineering, design, manufacture, supply, erection, trial operation and commissioning of equipment.
The stacker-reclaimer Ks-S 1825 is the key element for buffering of coal on its conveying route to the power station and for safeguarding power generation of 1900 MW at the Vattenfall site of Boxberg in Germany.
| | | | Industrial Thermography | | | FAM Service is under vivid development and consistently uses the most different tools to support the operational repair & maintenance of machines and the evaluation of technical condition of equipment.
The mobile thermography camera used in service permits area recording and display of temperature measurement results. The non-destructive and contact-less measuring method enables the FAM service engineers to determine an exact image of possible thermal losses or existing heat sources without any interruptions in equipment operation.
Temperature measurements are made according to prepared test programs on gearbox cases, bearings, compressors, hydraulic equipment, control cabinets and motors at regular intervals so that expensive production losses are avoided by premature recognition of potential damage sources.
The visualization of surface temperature distribution by means of specific analysis software makes it possible to document and analyse invisible conditions of sub-assemblies and components. The evaluation of technical condition forms the basis for recommendations on further actions to be taken by the plant operator.
